Lead Work Readiness Instructor

  • JOB SUMMARY   

    The Lead Work Readiness Instructor for the program will coach, facilitate, teach, and focus on preparing for employment through classroom instruction and job referrals.  By creatively mixing the training topics and modes of delivery, the Work Readiness Instructor shall be responsible for creating a stimulating learning environment whereby participants continue to remain motivated throughout the employment preparation process and are connected to job opportunities. The Lead Work Readiness Instructor will also train and provide best practice support to a network of NGO Service Providers in a train the trainer model.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Go into the field to community events or other locations potential participants request to conduct a screening for program eligibility and create excitement over enrollment in the voluntary program.
    • Plan and develop materials needed for each class using textbooks, handouts, workbook information, and other sources.
    • Facilitate work readiness groups, as well as coordinate and supervise independent job search, hiring fairs, and more.
    • Give assignments to participants attending classes and track performance/progress with Positions of Interest and Critical Competencies Form completion.
    • Achieve monthly job placement goals by working closely with Subcontracted NGO Service Provider staff and Job Developers to place participants in quality, long-term, unsubsidized jobs. 
    • Provide subject matter expertise in supportive resources and services that include but are not limited to: Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Childcare Tax Credit (CTC).
    • Design and create recruitment strategies, including hiring fairs, on-site employer visits, and info sessions. 
    • Review service plans and help participants achieve their employment goals.
    • Develop trusted working relationships with assigned participants and monitor participant engagement and progress through Customer’s fifth year of employment. 
    • Observe all policies and procedures and attend all required training and certifications as scheduled. 
    • Responsible for capturing and recording employment information by diligently verifying and reporting all aspects of participant milestone achievements. 
    • Stress urgency and ownership, guiding participant through a learn-by-doing process during their service planning and delivery. 
    • Collect best practices and conduct training on best practices to subcontracted partners to increase their staff’s skill levels and ability to achieve their contracted targets.
    • Partner with subcontract NGO service providers or other community partners on events with the goal of increasing job readiness or hiring events.
    • Document activities, participation, compliance, and employment progress in the Electronic Case Management (ECM) systems.
    • Assist in compiling data for reports, including but not limited to, participant timesheets and placement and retention reports. 
    • Participate in learning collaboratives through both regional and online conferences.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Education and Job Experience

    • A minimum of an associate degree from an accredited college or university. 
    • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in adult learning, workforce development, career training or other employment related field; and/or work experience determined to be acceptable to the agency. 
    • One (1) years’ experience as a lead or supervisor in case management or social services.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Demonstrable knowledge of 

    • Mission, vision, and goals The Fedcap Group and execution of relevant policies and procedures.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
    • Department policies, procedures, and ability to support the program framework.
    • Developing, evaluating, and implementing a case management plan that is milestone driven.

    Demonstrable ability to

    • Exercise a high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
    • Exercise judgement and discretion in developing, applying, interpreting, and coordinating policies and procedures, including quality issues.
    • Prepare and present comprehensive reports. Create stimulating learning environments where participants stay engaged and progress.
    • Mastery of all the key activities that participant must complete to successfully gain and retain employment.
    • Work with participants in a caring and respectful manner with an understanding of and consideration for their unique circumstances.
    • Experience in identifying community resources/services and linking participants to identified resources/services.

    Work Conditions

    This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will be determined by your supervisor. On a rotating basis, one evening and/or one weekend day is required. Role primary is based in the office, with some community, local, remote work being required.

    Travel

    Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
