Job Description Summary
The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Social Work & Criminal Justice invites applications for a full-time, Special instructor of Social Work position to begin August 15, 2024, to support our newly established MSW program and our existing BSW Program. Special Instructors are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses based on their qualifications and demonstrate a commitment to OU, the College of Arts and Sciences, and professional service. We are looking for candidates who have the potential to teach a 3-3 course load across the generalist and advanced generalist curriculums of MSW and BSW programs, including teaching HBSE, social welfare policy and/or practice courses. Oakland University’s Social Work program values diversity and issues related to social justice; therefore, we are seeking a candidate who is well-equipped to infuse diversity and related advocacy content into their teaching, service, and community engagement activities. Special Instructors are eligible to earn job security through the review process.
Minimum Qualifications
MSW from an accredited social work program, two years post-MSW practice
experience, and three to five years of teaching experience in higher education.

A unit of the College of Arts & Sciences, the interdisciplinary Department enrolls approximately 1,000 undergraduate majors. The Social Work Program enrolls approximately 225 majors, along with 120 MSW students.
