Instructor - Rehabilitation teaches courses in the discipline area of rehabilitation and therapy. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Rehabilitation provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Rehabilitation typically reports to a department head. POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Driver Rehabilitation Specialist the Certified Driving Instructor (CDI) will perform
behind the wheel driving assessments. The CDI will be able to understand a client’s deficits found in the
clinical driving assessment. The CDI will be able to assess, while performing the behind the wheel assessment, whether deficits are interfering with clients ability to safely drive a vehicle. Deficits assessed include but not limited to, loss of vision, cognition and physical limitation that may interfere with a client’s ability to drive.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Evaluates patients relative to their Driving Assessment needs and abilities.
Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem solving skills in the decision making process related to patient’s driving abilities.
May recommend driving modifications and adaptive driving equipment.
Ensures completion of all required documentation within 48 hours.
Completes billing on day of service.
Effectively interacts, collaborates and communicates with other departmental staff and coworkers.
Participates in educational programming by attending in-services.
Maintains proper credentialing and continuing education credits required for Certified Driving Instructor.
Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION
Meets the educational and legal qualifications of certified driving instructor (CDI).
Completes all in servicing and educational requirement in meeting Easterseal’s Standards prior to performing behind the wheel assessments.
High School Diploma is required.
EXPERIENCE
2 years’ experience with driving instruction of clients of all ages and abilities.
