Instructor - Psychology teaches courses in the discipline area of psychology. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Psychology provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Psychology typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     Duties and Responsibilities:
    Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
    2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
    3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
    4. meeting with students outside of class;
    5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
    6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
    7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
    8. maintaining accurate academic records;
    9. performing other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
    Master's in psychology
    OR
    bachelor's in psychology AND master's in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work OR the equivalent.

    Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    College teaching experience; the ability to teach a student body diverse in age, ethnicity, and academic skills; the ability to teach one or more in-person (i.e., face-to-face) courses from our Psychology offerings including: Introduction to Psychology; Lifespan Development; Research Methods; Abnormal Psychology; Social Psychology; Psychology of Personality; Statistics in Psychology; Critical Thinking in Psychology; Psychology of Latinos; Psychology of Women; Biological Psychology; Psychology of African-Americans.
