Garden City Community College is a vibrant and dynamic community college located in the heart of the rural Southwest Kansas high plains region. Officially designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution, the College serves a student population which reflects the area’s rich diversity. The College serves approximately 2,000 students across multiple populations including on-campus, online, and area high schools and has a history of strong program options in both transfer and technical education. The College is located in Garden City, a community with a recent history of robust population growth. This position is designed to both strengthen the College’s commitment to STEM pathways for students as well as pursue growth opportunities in engineering and robotics. The successful applicant will teach both general education courses to the student population at large as well as courses in physics, physical science, and/or engineering transfer courses (including robotics/mechatronics) for Science majors. Applicants with appropriate graduate-level degrees and experience teaching physics, physical science, and/or robotics will be considered, especially experience teaching at the community college level in diverse student environments (academic preparation, gender, age, race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, etc.). Additionally, applicants with demonstrated experience in growing programs and attracting students to STEM education through high-quality, dynamic teaching and recruiting will be considered.
This position is a full-time, 172-day contract position under the faculty Negotiated Agreement. The successful applicant will receive tenured status upon receipt of their fourth continuing contract. Supervision provided under the direction of the Division Chair for Science and Mathematics, the Dean of Academics, and the Vice President for Instructional Services. The primary assignment is to provide instructional services and learning facilitation for students in the Science Division.
