Being an Instructor - Physics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Physics typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research.     General Description
    Niagara County Community College has a need for a part time Instructor to teach various Physics courses in our Business & STEM division.
    Courses may include the following:
    • General Physics I and II lab
    • Calculus Based Physics I and II lab
    • Wave, Motion, Heat, & Light lab


    Additional duties and responsibilities will be reviewed during interview.

    Classes are held on the NCCC main campus in Sanborn, NY.

    Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $854 per lecture hour/$765 per lab hour.

    Typical Work Activities
    • Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon (face-to-face, face-to-face with Zoom option, hyflex, hybrid, blended, or online)
    • Hold office hours (in person or virtual as appropriate)
    • Track attendance
    • Complete census reports
    • Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester
    • Report grades at the conclusion of the semester

    Essential Functions
    Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.

    Required Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree in Physics or related field or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Physics or related field
    • 1 year teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

    Desirable Qualifications
    A background in alternative course delivery models and instructional experience at a community/technical college or four-year college with emphasis in calculus based physics.
