    Who You Are: Tri County Tech seeks two full-time Medicine and Biosciences Instructors for August 2024. Each instructor supplies student enrichment by incorporating real-world experiences that carry over into the broad areas of the medical field. Responsible for providing ambitious experiments in a project-based program that strengthens problem-solving skills, Instructors guide students through the explorative Project Lead the Way curriculum.     What You'll Possess

    As a qualified candidate:

    • You'll possess a Bachelor's  Degree.
    • You’ll possess an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Biology or Biological Sciences or be willing to obtain. Additional certifications such as Anatomy/Physiology,  Chemistry, or high school math (Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra) are encouraged.
    • You’ll possess PLTW course certifications or be willing to obtain. 
    • You’ll possess three years of related work experience.
    • You’ll have a Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Biotechnology, or Health Sciences background. 
    • You’ll have familiarity with pedagogy and the training and development of others.
    • You are detail-oriented and organized. 
    • You'll strive to exceed expectations and have excellent communication skills. 
    • You'll take the initiative, seek out projects, and openly accept other duties as assigned.
    • You continually look for ways to improve your skillset and are always open to receiving feedback.

     

    What You'll Do

    Instructors plan and deliver high-level, rigorous instruction to students in a trade area. They are technical experts in a given field/ area of specialty with the ability to teach leadership and employability skills. They understand the concept of andragogy and pedagogy and the learner's motivation while displaying patience and enthusiasm to help their students meet their goals. Instructors are lifelong learners who can adapt easily to meet the needs of their students. They manage multiple projects with self-directed, deadline-driven accountability. They are high-functioning professionals, using discretion and independent judgment while maintaining ultimate accountability. 


    Essential Functions:

    • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the district's curriculum goals as well as the individual needs of each student.
    • Coordinate and evaluate on-the-job training as applicable for students. 
    • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences that effectively utilize the available time for instruction.
    • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
    • Evaluate students' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare student progress reports.
    • Communicate with parents, if applicable, through conferences and other means to discuss student progress and interpret the school program.
    • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
    • Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
    • Develop and encourage a viable student organization for his/her area.
    • Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities and equipment.
    • Establish and/or maintain an active advisory committee as per ODCTE requirements.
    • Work with industry to ensure students can find and maintain employment.
    • Other Job-Related Duties as Assigned by the Supervisor: The omission of duties does not exclude it from the position if similar, related, or a logical assignment to the job. In other words, you'll be helping out on spontaneous projects and opportunities not listed above.
