Job Title: Mechanical and Packaging Technician

Location: Corvallis, Oregon
Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the client’s product portfolio with the evaluation, test and optimization of packaging designs and testing. If you are a packaging technician who likes working on multiple large scale projects, this position is for you!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess the client’s current portfolio of packaging solutions and work with product R&D and manufacturing teams to yield packaging designs that optimize sustainability, cost, quality and customer experience metrics
- Support mechanical and packaging engineers on
- Improving current and/or new packaging solutions to be leveraged across products to better standardize the production environment
- Anticipating packaging material needs from a cost, policy and/or regulatory compliance consideration
- Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external partners, including R&D teams, manufacturing/OEM teams, quality and reliability teams, compliance and sustainability teams and marketing/UX teams
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Education and Experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent field
- 2 years of experience in a packaging design/test technician role for consumer products
- Experience working with various packaging materials, methods, standards and regulatory requirements
- Experience with packaging manufacturing (production tooling and testing equipment)
- Experience working in R&D/proto/manufacturing environments

- Demonstrated knowledge of Design for Manufacturability principles and concepts
- Strong understanding of Quality Systems, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, and basic statistical data analysis
- Demonstrated general scientific and engineering skills (physics, materials, fluid and thermodynamics, and motion control)
- Knowledge of various CAD packages
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for technology and desire to learn new skills
- Ability to apply judgment to resolve conflicting requirements
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently; demonstrated organization, problem-solving, project planning, and time management skills
- Ability to exercise independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment or independently; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively inform and present ideas confidently and persuasively to peers and managers
- Ability to take initiative to ask questions, ask for help, or provide updates, without reluctance
- Ability to meet the eligibility requirements for working in the US without RLA sponsorship for employment visa status
- Strong computer skills that include proficiency with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio), Teams and SharePoint

- Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently
