  • Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time English Instructor positions in the Academic & Student Affairs division, Arts and Sciences department.  This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.    

     

    Under direct supervision of the Dean of Arts & Sciences, the Full-Time English Instructor provides instruction to students in General Education English and Humanities courses.  The Full-Time English Instructor must be able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communications with business, industry, and the public sector.  This position requires a passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students.   

     

    The primary duties and responsibilities for this position will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

     

    ·       Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.

    ·       Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills.

    ·       Demonstrates knowledge of current procedures in the English field.

    ·       Follows approved course syllabus.

    ·       Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.

    ·       Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.

    ·       Maintains classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.

    ·       Attending meetings, as required and appropriate.

    ·       Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.

    ·       Assists with student recruitment and job placement.

    ·       Serves on committees, as needed.

    ·       Maintains qualifications for employment in accordance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.

    ·       Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College system of Georgia Policy Manual.

    ·       Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and

    ·       Perform additional duties, as assigned.

     

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Must possess and demonstrate the following:

    ·       Master’s Degree in English or a master’s degree in a related field with at least 18 graduate hours in English, from a regionally accredited institution.

    ·        One (1) year or more of online teaching experience.

    ·       Ability to work flexible hours, when necessary, specifically evening and weekend hours.

    ·       Work experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels required for English instruction for learning support (remedial) and general education areas.

    ·       Experience as an instructor/teacher in a secondary or postsecondary setting.

    ·       Minimum plus experience with BANNER student information system, experience with Blackboard learning management system and Microsoft Office experience.

    ·       Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    ·       Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
