    ABOUT THIS POSITION

    Summary: We seek an Instructor of English to serve as a full-time faculty member of the Department of Languages, Literature, and Mass Communication. Primary responsibilities include teaching composition courses and appropriate upper- and lower- division courses in the English department. Candidates are welcome to identify a secondary interest in writing or literatures. The department has a particular interest in offering courses in screenwriting, though the bulk of the teaching will be in composition. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, likely consisting of three composition courses and one course in a secondary area. Teaching may involve online, hybrid, and/or distance delivery modalities. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
    Teach first-year composition and other English courses as assigned.

    Attend departmental meetings and perform service connected to teaching. 

    Required Qualifications: 
    MA or MFA in Rhetoric or Composition Studies, English, literature, cultural studies, comparative literature, or closely aligned field.

    Documentation of successful teaching of composition at the undergraduate college/university level.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    PhD in Rhetoric or Composition Studies, English, literature, cultural studies, comparative literature, or closely aligned field.

    Demonstrated ability to teach a range of lower- and upper-division writing and literature courses.
