Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Full-Time Instructor - Electrical Line Worker

  • Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Full-Time Instructor (Electrical Line Worker) position in the Academic and Student Affairs division, Industrial and Transportation Technology department.  This position is located on Atlanta Technical College’s main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta. 

     

    Under general supervision of the Dean of Industrial & Transportation Technology, the Full-Time Electrical Line Worker instructor must be able to select and assess student learning outcomes, foster effective learning in both classroom and lab settings, and promote good public relations via contacts and regular communication with business, industry, and the public sector.

     

    Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:

    • Assist with developmental and review of program and syllabi, goals and objectives according to approved curriculum and course syllabi standards.
    • Evaluate and review students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
    • Advice and counsel students and maintain appropriate records for each student.
    • Demonstrate and ensure the use of appropriate and effective teaching techniques, testing and grading procedures (including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements).
    • Display excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Maintain and review classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.
    • Maintain and review program certification requirements, as appropriate.
    • Prepare and maintain all required documentation and administrative reports.
    • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
    • Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of current practices in the teaching field and/or related fields.
    • Follows and enforces rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.
    • Must be willing to receive training and professional development to teach clean energy topics, particularly relating to maintenance of EV Charger Stations; and
    • Perform additional duties, as assigned.

     

     Minimum Qualifications:

    Must possess and demonstrate the following:

    • Class A Commercial Driver's License required.
    • Must have extensive work experience as an electrical line worker in overhead and underground distribution construction and maintenance. 
    • Must be able to instruct students and handle administrative responsibilities related to the position.
    • Must be energetic, highly motivated, self-directed, open to new ideas and customer focused.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, organization, and planning skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
