    General Description: 
     
    Working under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Technology Services and in collaboration with the Center for Integrated Learning team, the Educational Technologist (ET) provides training and customized support to faculty across all disciplines in the area of instructional technologies to promote student engagement, learning, and success. The successful candidate will assist faculty in the expansion and enhancement of their skills for teaching in technology-enhanced classrooms. The ET will plan, coordinate, and conduct workshops on the use of educational technologies and support faculty in developing best practices for teaching in multiple modes of instruction simultaneously. Duties include consulting, conducting individual and group workshops, providing feedback on teaching with multiple technologies, creating educational technology training courses in Canvas, as well as researching, troubleshooting, and problem-solving to meet specific course content and delivery needs. 
     
    The position requires a strong working knowledge of instructional technologies, learning management systems (currently Canvas) and other tools (document cameras, web cams, Zoom, Panopto, MS Office, tablets, smart boards, etc.).
     
     
    Essential Functions: 
     
    • Plan, develop, and deliver workshops on educational technology
    • Work with vendors, instructors, students, and support staff to help develop and implement technology effectively for student learning, including administration of the Learning Management System (LMS) and all integrated services and technology
    • Assists faculty with matching learning outcomes and teaching strategies with technology solutions
    • Analyze institutional needs and resources related to instructional delivery with technology and research and evaluate new technologies and their impact on instruction and student learning
    • Work on special projects (e.g., new student orientation, faculty onboarding, adoption of new technologies) as deemed relevant and be available as needed for technical and other support during critical periods and for new or inexperienced users 
    • Work with a wide range of multimedia software (including, audio, video, web, animation, and photo) to develop materials for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses
    • Assist faculty in differentiating delivery of instruction depending on modality
    • Recommend instructional options to meet course delivery needs
    • Provide support with accessibility software and tools to help faculty ensure equity and access for all enrolled students regardless of their chosen mode of receiving instruction
    • Analyze institutional needs and resources related to instructional delivery with technology and identify future professional development based on feedback from faculty, deans, and relevant data
    • Collaborate with the Center for Integrated Learning team to build training resources related to educational technology
    • Liaison between the Center for Integrated Learning and Technology Services.
    • May supervise work study students

    • Ability to quickly establish a plan and continue supporting faculty in high tech classrooms
    • High proficiency with Microsoft Office
    • Strong working knowledge of learning management systems, preferably Canvas
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • High proficiency and comfort level with educational technology and presentation software
    • Ability to work independently, professionally, and with minimal supervision
    • Ability to convey information with enthusiasm and positivity
    • Ability to address the changing needs of adult learners and programs
    • Excellent customer service capabilities
    • Understanding of the ethical responsibilities when consulting with student and course data
    • Understanding of methods of providing equitable access to instruction, regardless of mode of delivery
    • Problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify solutions independently and report back with updates or other required follow-up
    • Knowledge of educational technologies for instruction
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in a highly confidential professional setting
    • Act as an analytical thinker with the ability to work collaboratively and independently
    • Proven ability to create project plans and successfully complete projects

     
     
    Qualifications: 
    Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college.
     
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in educational technology, instructional technology or closely related field; OR an associate’s degree in educational technology, instructional technology or closely related field AND two years’ experience, or equivalent education/experience.
    • Demonstrated successful teaching with technology (experience as an educational technology trainer may be substituted)
    • Experience with Canvas Learning Management System beyond that of a student (instructor, trainer, advisor, administrator, etc.)
    • Prior experience working in a higher education environment
    • Experience using web-based learning, authoring, or publication systems
    • Multimedia development experience including using the latest software products
    • Experience with video/audio production and development
    • Experience in the collection and support the analysis of learning analytics


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bilingual – Spanish
    • Customer service/Helpdesk experience

    This position is in a bargaining unit for which AFT is the exclusive representative.

    This is a full-time professional exempt position. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment. WWCC participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. Official college transcripts required at time of hire. Candidates may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition of employment. Information from the background check may not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position. The college is a tobacco free institution.
     
    Work is performed throughout the campus in classrooms and offices. Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in office environments. Duties require the use of standard office furniture and instructional equipment (e.g., computers, projectors, web cams, etc.).Sitting at a desk or computer station, standing and walking, and light lifting are required throughout the shift. Generally, no weekend or evening hours anticipated. This contract position work schedule will typically be Monday through Friday 8-hours each day. During the summer, work schedule is Monday through Thursday 10-hours each day. Minimal travel may be required.

    Compensation: 

    Annual salary range: $68,000-75,000. The college has an excellent benefit program including paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs.  All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). All administrative exempt staff set aside 1% of their gross salary in a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) (VEBA). All exempt employees are required to participate in this program. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.This position will remain open until filled.
