Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Economics provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Economics typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Adjunct Economics Instructor
Part-Time, Non-TenureSalary:
$869 per Instructional Unit
Up to 10 IU's/QuarterYakima Valley College seeks innovative adjunct Economic Instructors committed to community college students and their success. This position is part-time, non-tenure track.
Reporting to the Dean – Arts and Sciences, the adjunct Economic Instructors will be accomplished and active in their discipline, committed to participating in a multicultural, interdisciplinary learning environment, and skilled in the technology of learning and research.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- Master's Degree in Economics or related field OR
- Master's degree in Business Administration with graduate-level course in Economics
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:- Minimum of one year teaching experience at the college or university level
- Experience developing curriculum
- Experience with a variety of teaching modalities
- Successful experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations
- Commitment to the community college philosophy
JOB PROFILE:
- Responsible for facilitating student learning in economics, including but not limited to the following courses: Introduction to Economics (Econ 101), Microeconomics (Econ 201), and Macroeconomics (Econ 202)
- Provide classroom support for students with a variety of backgrounds and experience levels
