Instructor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. - As a Mad Science Summer Camp Assistant, you will assist the lead instructor with our interactive STEM camp. Our camps feature LOTS of hands-on activities, exciting demonstrations, and fun take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help our campers create slime. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really about.
- Supervising campers ages 6-11
- Assisting campers with hands-on projects
- Leading active games
- Cleaning and packing equipment as needed
- All camps are half-day morning camps from 9 am - 12 pm. Camp staff hours are 8:30 am - 12:30 pm.
- Travel to different camp locations each week. Camps are located in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Suffolk.
- Enjoy teaching children the fascinating wonders of science!
- Experience working with elementary age children is a must (ages 5-11)
- A valid driver's license and reliable car
- Available 8 of 10 weeks during summer camp season: June 10 - August 16
- Fun and outgoing personality
- Bachelor's Degree not required, great job for recent high school graduate/current college student
