Instructor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. We are now hiring for part-time Code Sensei (STEM Tutors) to join our team immediately! Code Sensei are the lifeblood of our center. Each day you will be responsible for helping to get the center ready for the day (powering up laptops and other tech equipment), working with kids ages and helping them work on our self-paced coding curriculum, addressing any roadblocks that come up for them along the way, and leading them through other STEM activities
Responsibilities include:
· Training – go through the curriculum and learn it
· Create a positive and safe environment in which students can grow
· Work with children to determine skill sets
· Provide feedback to parents after working with student who is on a tour
· Follow opening/closing duties daily
· Clean dojo throughout the day to ensure cleanliness is kept up to corporate standards
· Report weekly to Center Director on progress
· Report daily to Center Director with respect to day’s activities and productivity in dojo
Qualifications:
· Working history with children ages 7 and up (mentoring, coaching, tutoring etc.)
· Experience working with the general public
· Experience in teaching, mentoring or child care
· Works well with others; collaborates
· Knowledgeable about coding and technology; or able to quickly pick up basic concepts
· Must be fun to work with and like working in fast paced environments where requirements can change frequently
