    Summary of Job Duties:*** This position is located in El Dorado, AR ***

    The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) will be responsible for providing comprehensive health exams for women during the antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal periods, as well as engaging in well-woman care, health education, contraceptive counseling, and providing care for episodic and chronic illnesses. Additionally, they will be trained to provide group prenatal care and facilitate group education as a CenteringPregnancy provider. The APRN will also provide support to other clinicians in the practice, including providing education on evidence-based practice and providing technical assistance. They will also provide support to women and their families in the practice. Independence, in consultation, and billing of inpatient and outpatient consultations will be expected. There will be opportunity for clinical research, based on the applicant's training and interest. The APRN is responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the UAMS. The APRN will hold National Certification approved for practice in the state of AR.Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in nursing.
    • Two (2) years of nursing experience.
    • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas: APRN. National Certification recognized by the state of AR for practice.
    • Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    • Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in women's health, including antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal care, with a strong understanding of family planning methods, contraceptive counseling, and well-woman care.
    • Ability to provide health education and promote wellness.
    • Proficient in conducting comprehensive health exams and risk assessments for women.
    • Collaborative and teamwork skills, working effectively with UAMS physicians, residents, and nursing staff.
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and responsibly consult and bill for consultations.
    • Interest and potential for engaging in clinical research.
    • Commitment to providing care in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the UAMS.
    • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.
    • Must have normal communication sensory requirement.
    • Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in nursing and Certified Nurse Midwife.
    • Two (2) years of midwifery or Women's Health experience.
    • Prescriptive authority and DEA license obtained prior to hire.

    Responsibilities:

    • Gathers information systematically and skillfully from all sources for both new and established patients: pre-natal, perinatal, past medical history, diagnostic tests, comprehensive physical examination, behavioral, developmental, psychosocial assessments, differentiating between normal and abnormal variations for all body systems and accurately interpreting diagnostic tests.
    • Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process in the assessment and identification of patient/family long and short-term physical, psychological, educational and cultural needs for assigned patient populations.
    • Provides ongoing and follow-up care and patient/family education.
    • Provides group prenatal care as a CenteringPregnancy facilitator.
    • Accurately interprets health assessment data and applies findings in directing patient care.
    • Utilizes knowledge and expertise when planning long and short-term care, including appropriate pharmacologic and diagnostic treatments as needed.
    • Documents all health data and plan of care and care according to policy. Evaluation and documentation of patient/family response to the plan of care through systematic follow-up to achieve health goals.
    • Accurately completes all billing forms, including diagnostic (ICD-9) and treatment (CPT) codes, based on federal and state laws in a timely manner.
    • Communicates with referring physicians, allied health providers and hospital staff as appropriate.
    • Provides education, coaching and guidance to care coordinators/community health workers assisting with patient care
    • May perform other duties as assigned.
