Instructor - Computer Science teaches courses in the discipline area of computer and information sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Computer Science provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Computer Science typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Science Club Instructor

Build and fly rockets, demonstrate lasers, explore the states of matter using dry ice, and help children create slime and other polymers. You will inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about.

    As a Mad Scientist you will lead students through an inquiry-based discovery method involving instructor demonstrations, hands-on activities and amazing take-home projects that will illustrate how science affects the world around us. Mad Science is the world's leading provider of fun science programs for elementary-aged children.

    Work hands-on with classroom-sized groups of kids while getting them EXCITED about SCIENCE! You and the kids will work with slime, dry ice, rockets and more while you explore all the things that make science COOL! In CLUB programs you'll visit the same groups of kids for 60-90 minutes weekly for 4-12 weeks to present a new, cool topic.

    Club programs happen between the hours of 2 and 6pm, Monday - Thursday. Club instructors need a minimum of 2 afternoons/week available for clubs, with a kit swap typically happening Thursday night or on Friday. We provide all your training and equipment and handle all the booking and scheduling from our office; all you do is go have fun with the kids.

    Please note: Most instructors work between 2-4 programs/week ($100-$200/weekly). This should be considered SUPPLEMENTAL work and can work well for students, retirees, substitutes, and other schedules that allow for supplemental gig work (it is a W-2 position).

    Responsibilities:

    • Leading a 60-90 minute science enrichment program using a pre-set curriculum, where we prioritize safety, respect, and FUN!
    • Ensuring students on roster arrive and are dismissed safely before and after the program.
    • Ensuring equipment is picked up, taken care of and properly used and packed up after each program.
    • Each session is a high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on program with various topics.
    • Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!

    Qualifications:

    • Some experience working with groups (8 ) of elementary age (5-12) children. Club instructors lead groups of 12-20 students in a classroom setting. Large classes may have an assistant as well.
    • Must be available most for 2-3 hours blocks 2 afternoons/week between 2pm and 6pm (no classes when schools are out of session) MONDAY AFTERNOONS A MUST
    • Must have a reliable car
    • Minimum high school diploma
    • Have a fun & outgoing personality
