Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. They require an experienced automotive coatings chemist to lead a small team of chemists and technicians who are working to develop automotive vehicle refinish products. This position is located in their corporate R&D facility in suburban Cleveland, OH.Responsibilities
- Lead a team of technicians and chemists to formulate automotive coatings and related pigment dispersions.
- Working side by side with the team, set laboratory priorities and employ best practices to ensure project completion.
- Collaborate globally with R&D counterparts
- Serve as key point of contact between the team in the lab and other functional groups throughout the company including manufacturing, sales, marketing, quality and management.
- Create impactful presentations and communicate them to project stakeholders.
- Manage and develop the capabilities of the team, complete annual performance appraisals, and recruit and hire new team members.
- Maintain safe laboratory operating procedures.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.
- At least 5 years experience in coatings application and formulation.
- Some prior team leadership experience.
- Technical experience with pigment dispersions, color technology, effect pigments.
- Design of Experiment and Design for Six Sigma expertise.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on presentations.
- Project management skills.
