Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Chemistry typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a part-time Chemistry adjunct instructor to teach undergraduate students online beginning January 4, 2024 (Spring Semester).Applicants must complete the online application in its entirety and attach an unofficial copy of their college transcript which should reflect a minimum of 18 graduate hours in this field. Resume in lieu of a completed application will not be accepted. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.Position Description: Under limited supervision, provides excellent student-centered instruction. Performs administrative, record keeping, educational, and technical work related to instructing students in a classroom, advising and mentoring students, and related functions.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning: Teach courses assigned by the department chair and approved by the division dean.Design and implement instructional activities that are appropriate and meaningful.Adhere to the departmental course guidelines and ensure that content covers approved student learning outcomes.Maintain and submit all required college records including attendance and grade reports, etc.Evaluate student performance using methods appropriate to the course.Measure and report required student learning outcomes.Assist students in receiving needed instructional resources. Curriculum Development: Maintain, review, and update course content, learning outcomes, and course syllabiRecommend course textbooks, supplies, equipment, and equipment repairsParticipate in departmental activities relative to revising and updating the course(s) in the area of expertise.Utilize student learning outcomes assessment results to improve courses/program. Professional Development: Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for position.Keep abreast of current technology. Institutional Service: Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.Attend all required department, division, and college-wide meetings. Community Relations: Be alert to public relations opportunities and use these to promote the college and the department.
