Diamond Chemical Company, a national manufacturer of institutional and industrial soaps and detergents, located in Northern NJ, seeks a highly motivated and dynamic experienced Plant Engineer to manage our Maintenance and Engineering department at both our New Jersey and Arizona facilities. Candidate must be a strong, proactive, hands-on, team player with experience working in a fast-paced high-pressure manufacturing environment.
The Plant Engineer Manager is responsible overall plant maintenance and engineering. This position also includes design, sourcing and implementation of plant projects - as well as troubleshooting of manufacturing process problems. The position has the responsibility for scaling-up new manufacturing & packaging processes and improving current processes and products by reducing product cost, including yield loss and labor costs, while maintaining or improving product quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Monitoring and maintaining plant equipment and machinery to ensure that it is running properly.
· Responsible for repairing any mechanical issues with equipment.
· Design and implementation of manufacturing and packaging processes from the concept stage through manufacturing scale-up.
· Review Project plans to ensure that timelines and blueprints are accurate and cost estimates tie in with the budget.
· Perform validation of new and existing processes/equipment to improve yield, product performance and/or to introduce new materials.
· Investigate and troubleshoot process problems.
· Monitor process capabilities and performance through standard statistical process control and analysis methods.
· Improve manufacturing processes by performing comprehensive evaluation of processes, materials and equipment and identifying areas and methods of improvement.
· Develop operational plans for projects at different facilities, such as renovation or construction, maintenance and machine installation.
· Manage and execute improvement projects that support overall production process improvement in the plant and other variable cost savings opportunities.
· Perform other duties & projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualified candidate must:
· Five-years’ experience in manufacturing and plant design or other relevant experience.
· Possess a chemical, mechanical engineering or related degree.
· Strong project management skills including proficiency with project management software
· Strong Mechanical Aptitude.
