Instructor - Business Administration teaches courses in the discipline area of business administration and management. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Instructor - Business Administration provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Business Administration typically reports to a department head. Has a Master's degree or is a PhD candidate in the applicable field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate level and possesses the qualifications to participate in research. Responsible for:
1. Updating course shell with web links, contact information, syllabus etc. at least five (5) days prior to the start of class; complying with minimum content and layout standards.
2. Evaluating textbooks and other instructional materials for each course taught.
3. Communicating with students on your roster two days before the scheduled start of class.
4. Evaluating students progress, tutoring students as necessary using conferencing tools, referring at-risk
students to their Student Advisor and/or the Director of Distance Education, as appropriate.
5. Giving students timely feedback, posting grades within five (5) days after the scheduled due date.
6. Communicating proposed course improvements to the Assistant Director(s) of Distance Education.
7. Checking emails twice daily with appropriate follow-up.
8. Providing annual documentation of continuing professional growth related to both (1) subject matter and (2) online instructional methods, obtaining and maintaining certifications, licenses, or degrees required.
9. Participating in Program Advisory Committee meetings, in-services, and other meetings, as requested.
10. Performing other duties as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications: At least 3 years work experience in the specific field of instruction and one of the following:
(1) A baccalaureate degree with a major in the specific field of instruction.
(2) Two years teaching experience in the specific field of instruction.
(3) A journeymans license relevant to the specific field of instruction.
(4) Demonstrated competency in the specific field for which training is offered.
(5) Vocational education certification in the specific field of instruction.
