Business Administration Instructor [Faculty Part-Time Application Pool]

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
    This position may include teaching remotely, online, or face-to-face in the classroom. 

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    Instructs students in a classroom. Provides student contact before or after class or through telephone or email exchanges or office hours where facilities and schedules permit.

    Prepares, distributes and utilizes instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate; incorporates the latest classroom technology when available and appropriate to instructional activities.

    Structures classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; prepares clear objectives for students for each course.

    Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates sensitivity to diversity within the college community.

    Responsible for classroom and departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate.

    Understands and abides by college policies and regulations and other policies, procedures and materials as required by the college, departments or divisions.

    Convenes classes on time and as scheduled.

    Maintains evaluation and grading records for assigned students; enters grades and provides all necessary documentation for incompletes within established college timelines and guidelines.

    Ensures and emphasizes safe working and classroom conditions and practices.

    May direct aides and work study students as assigned.

    Understands and uses the college's computer system.
     
    AUXILIARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
    May provide assistance to other department personnel as workload and staffing levels dictate. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

    MINIMUM/MANDATORY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
    Masters in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics or other business-related field required (unless otherwise specified for individual courses).

    Five years of related full-time equivalent non-teaching work experience related to the subject areas teaching required. 

    Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues and staff. 

    Commitment to teaching as a profession and to ongoing professional development. Enthusiasm, creativity, and energy in classroom teaching resulting in a very positive experience for students.

    Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives and abilities.

    Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College’s culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility and a willingness to change.


    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
    Demonstrated successful teaching experience with a diverse student body such as that found at a comprehensive community college. Recent experience working in business and industry, owning a small business, and/or internship position. Experience developing curriculum and designing courses, including online and special needs classes. Experience in use of technology, including digital presentation systems, in presentations.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:
    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility, including the use of step stools in order to retrieve archived materials. Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a regular basis such as papers, files, boxes, equipment, computers, etc., and rarely requires moving materials weighing over 25 pounds. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, monitor, projector, calculator, printer, and standard office equipment.
      
    WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Work environment includes classroom, lab, or other setting as appropriate.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.
