Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Instructor - Accounting typically reports to a department head.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

    The principal responsibility of an Accounting Instructor is to teach a variety of accounting courses in accordance with established course outlines. Accounting faculty are also expected to share the duties of teaching during day-time, evenings, weekends, online, and off-campus and have the ability to teach in areas such as principles of accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, cost accounting, auditing, government and nonprofit accounting, taxation, information systems, or forensic accounting without additional substantive training or study.

    Duties also include sharing department, division, college and/or District responsibilities, including actively participating in the spirit of shared governance. Such responsibilities may include recruitment and hiring, class schedule preparation, budget requests, performance appraisals, mentorship, student recruitment and retention, curriculum and program development and evaluation, program review, club advising, committees, accreditation, and articulation. Instructors are expected to keep instructional programs current with advances in the occupational or academic fields by maintaining contact with business, industry, and professional organizations, participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills, assess various learning outcomes, and perform other duties as assigned.

    Standard duties expected of all faculty include the development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, service on district and/or college committees, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to participate in campus extracurricular activities.

    The college expects commitment, sensitivity and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious backgrounds and sexual orientations of community college students, faculty, and staff, and the integration of equity and high-impact, student-centered practices into all areas of instruction.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
    2. Master's in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration OR Bachelor's in business with accounting emphasis or business administration with accounting emphasis or economics with an accounting emphasis AND Master's in business, business administration, business education, economics, taxation, finance or the equivalent (NOTE: A bachelor's degree in accountancy or business administration with accounting concentration, with a CPA license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Demonstrated knowledge, abilities, and skills to teach in areas such as principles of accounting, intermediate accounting, advanced accounting, cost accounting, auditing, government and nonprofit accounting, taxation, information system, or forensic accounting.
    2. Demonstrated ability to develop and use varied teaching methods including technology-enhanced, synchronous and asynchronous, collaborative learning, project-based learning, group work, case

      studies, individualized and lecture-lab instruction and related assessments that address student retention and success.
    3. Successful experience with and passion for teaching students of ethnically, academically and culturally diverse backgrounds at the community college level.
    4. An Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or related professional certification.
    5. Significant experience in the field of accounting, for example, leading roles in Auditing, financial analysis and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, tax planning and compliance, implementation of internal controls and accounting systems, compliance and regulatory reporting.
    6. Experience in developing new curricula, including interdisciplinary courses and/or training material.
    7. Demonstrated ability to maintain subject matter currency by obtaining relevant certifications, such as CPA, CMA to enhance professional qualifications and participating in continued education to stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
    8. Experience in recruitment and/or articulation activities with local schools, colleges, universities, and industry.
    9. Demonstrated enthusiasm and interest in working cooperatively with colleagues.

    HIRING RANGE: $71,934.00 - $133,543.00 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
