Primary Responsibilities Communicating clear and concise investment opinions through both oral and written presentations to an investment committee comprised of senior members of the U.S. High Yield team Author underwriting memos for primary loan and bond issuance as well as secondary trading ideas based on independent study and observation of companies, industries, economic and market trends Analyze issuer credit quality and security characteristics through building models and forecasting to support investment recommendations Assess relative value by weighing risk-return profile of investment opportunities within credit coverage universe Review credit agreements and indentures and articulate structural strengths and weaknesses of the documents Flexibility to travel in order to meet with management teams and develop relationships with sell-side analysts, industry experts and other external sources to support research efforts Complete quarterly and year-end reporting initiatives around earnings, asset pricing and industry reviews Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the high yield market, preferably investment research Bachelors’ degree in mathematics, finance, accounting, economics or a related field: MBA and/or CFA strongly preferred Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication / presentation skills Analytical skills, strong attention to detail and accuracy Strong PC skills, specifically in Microsoft Office applications and sourcing data from the internet and various technology publications Proactive learner with strong intellectual curiosity Some travel required Barings is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer; Minority/Female/Age/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Individual with Disability/Protected Veteran.
