    Position Summary 

    A key member of a five-member Development team, the Assistant Director of Institutional Giving will lead the management of an active grants portfolio of 40-50 funders accounting for about $600k - $1 million in private foundation funding and $8 million in government funding/awards. Manage the full life-cycle of institutional donor relationships including prospect research, submission of all LOIs, proposals, and reports, cultivation, and ongoing relationship management.
     

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Work with Chief Development Officer to set overall institutional strategy;
    • Manage Greenwich House’s existing grants portfolio, ensuring all grants are appropriately tracked, relationships are managed with regular check-ins, reporting and renewal deadlines are kept;
    • Manage all grants and funder relationships from prospect identification, RFP release, gathering and activating internal decision-makers, LOI and proposal development, grant writing, accompanying documents management, submission, portal management, tracking and managing of all deadlines, reports, and renewals.
    • Perform ongoing prospect research, continually identifying opportunities for new or upgraded support to strengthen programs;
    • Work with program teams in partnership with the Chief Development Officer to identify funding gaps in existing programs, and possible funders to fill the gaps;
    • Work with program teams in partnership with the Chief Development Officer to identify prospective areas of strategic growth and new projects that require additional funding and develop budgets accordingly;
    • Work with the Development Manager to ensure gifts are received, and properly coded, recorded, and acknowledged;
    • Build and cultivate relationships with funders, elected officials, agency representatives, and Corporate prospects and partners; 
    • Serve as a deputy to the Chief Development Officer, filling in and providing support with any and all development activities when required;
    • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Greenwich House programming; 
    • Compile data from Raiser’s Edge for reports, development communications, and more.


    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 5-8 years of experience in development with a focus on grant writing for private foundations and/or government entities;
    • Experience working with private funders, government agencies, and Corporate philanthropic partners;
    • Experience writing about programming with an arts and/or social services focus;
    • Experience in New York’s philanthropic ecosystem; 
    • Excellent relationship-building skills: ability to personally connect with and engage diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders;
    • Experience with Raiser’s Edge is a plus;
    • Passion for Greenwich House’s mission to foster wellness, creativity, and connection through a constellation of programs, indicative of the settlement house movement.
