Job SummaryUnder the general supervision of the Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, the Director of Institutional Research and Data Analytics directs and coordinates all institutional research and analytics functions and staff. The Director provides leadership and strategic direction in the planning and implementation of college-wide research projects and activities including data collection, analysis, dissemination, and reporting in support of the College’s mission. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Directs and supervises a team of professional, paraprofessional, and clerical personnel to ensure accurate and timely submission of applicable reporting requirements to federal, state, accreditation, and other agencies and organizations
•Collaborates with the Office of Information Technology and other offices to develop, implement, and maintain systems to collect, analyze, disseminate, and report student and other data
•Conducts and presents the results of high quality research and data analyses in support of college-wide strategic priorities and initiatives
•Manages business intelligence and data analytics capabilities, including predictive analytics, in partnership with other offices
•Chairs the College’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and co-chairs the College Academic and Student Support Council (CASSC) Research and Testing Committee
•Keeps apprised of applicable federal, state, accreditation and other reporting requirements and best practices and ensures that technical and other systems are in place to meet such requirements and best practices
•Serves as the primary contact for information and services related to institutional research
•Represents the College on local, state, and national committees as appropriate to the areas of immediate supervisory responsibility
•Performs other duties as assigned
•Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in research activities in education or related field, of which two (2) years performed at supervisory level; or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in research activities in education or related field, of which two (2) years performed at supervisory level
•Proven management and technical competence in institutional research and knowledge of management information systems
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
•Possess strong SAS programming skills
•Possess strong analytical and technical skills related to quantitative and qualitative research design, descriptive and inferential statistics, and data visualization
•Experience with PeopleSoft and Oracle Business Intelligence or similar platforms related to data architecture and warehousing, business intelligence, predictive analytics, enterprise information systems, enterprise resource planning, and statistics packages
•Record of scholarship in the field through publications or presentations
•Possess strong supervisory and project management skills
•Knowledge of state and federal reporting and disclosure requirements related to postsecondary education
•Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students and to external groups
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office program applications
•Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
