Institutional Research Director - Assistant assists in directing and overseeing institutional research for a university/college. Designs and leads institutional research studies evaluating the effectiveness of the organization's programs and policies. Being an Institutional Research Director - Assistant manages data collection and analysis and oversees the formulation of research reports. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Institutional Research Director - Assistant typically reports to Institutional Research Director. The Institutional Research Director - Assistant typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     JOB TITLE:   

    Aquatic Technician

    JOB PURPOSE:

    To assist with development, installation, and use of aquatic sensor network and associated data streams in support of WyACT, a 5-year NSF-funded project. This position may be filled for an initial term of 1.5 years with possibility for extension if funds are available. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist with sensor maintenance and field data collection in lakes and rivers
    • Assist with maintenance of lake buoys 
    • Data QA/QC
    • Processing of samples, including water chemistry, algae, and zooplankton

    SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

    • May assist with ordering supplies, maintaining inventory and keeping laboratory/research area clean and organized.
    • May travel to sites associated with designated projects to help collect data/specimens or assist in performing experiments.
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
    • Attend and participate in training and other professional development activity.
    • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.

    REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

    The work is in person, partially on campus and partially at field sites in WY.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    • Field experience in river, lake, and/or reservoir environments
    • Experience installing and operating sensors in freshwater habitats
    • Experience with boat operation and maintenance
    • Statistical or quantitative analysis skills
    • Interest in climate change research
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
