Engineering Technician

  • Duties

    • Perform studies of special projects to ascertain or to verify the most effective economical method of construction.
    • Serve as the principal technical expert within the DPW, specializing in two engineering disciplines and knowledgeable in all others.
    • Coordinate projects to be accomplished with building/facility occupants.
    • Prepare written reports on inspections including the extent of deficiencies and the requirements to correct them.
    • Evaluate contractor performance in accordance with the provisions of the contract and the Directorate, Quality Assurance plan.

    Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following. Prepare plans and specifications for new construction, major and minor modifications, alterations, renovations, or repairs to existing facilities. Review designs, including plans, drawings, specifications and contractor compliance for technical adequacy, compliance with standards and conformance with engineering practices.

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
