Inside Technical Sales sells technical services, products, and systems. Develops relationships with current customers and identifies potential new customers through visits and calls. Being a Inside Technical Sales creates and conducts technical presentations and demos that present current and future products to potential customers. Utilizes technical acumen to understand and gather customer requirements and to prepare specifications and generate quotes. Additionally, Inside Technical Sales builds customer confidence by addressing all technical objections/concerns from prospective customers throughout the sales cycle. Partners with internal technical and marketing teams to offer suggestions for product enhancements and to share insights from customers. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related technical or scientific discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Inside Technical Sales occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Position Summary: Provides sales and customer service activities primarily related to retail customers utilizing knowledge of sales techniques and industry knowledge. What You'll Do: Provides customer service primarily to retail customers, via walk-in, telephone or email, including assisting with customer inquiries on product selection, pricing, availability, refunds/exchanges requiring a working knowledge of company products, procedures and practices. Actively engages in selling company products/services and related items. Provides material estimates and quotes for small packages (stairs, decks, fences, sheds, etc.). Enters orders into system and schedules delivery of products. Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals. Participates in coordinating and conducting customer workshops. Handles and resolves simple customer complaints and forwards more complex issues to more senior staff for resolution. Assists with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and other related activities. Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and six (6) months sales-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. What You Can Bring to the Team: Knowledge of company products, competitor’s products and company standards Knowledge of company product pricing, discount and estimating formulas and guidelines Good verbal and written communication skills Demonstrates strong detail orientation skills Strong customer service skills Knowledge of basic sales techniques, concepts and the ability to influence and persuade Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and an enterprise resource planning (ERP) program Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment. Work Environment / Physical Activity: Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations. Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds. Standing or walking for 80% of the day. Stooping and kneeling throughout the day. Occasionally will use hand tools, saws, forklift, pallet jack to assist customers. Reaching-extending the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
