Inservice Training Director directs the overall design and development of training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Establishes a skill assessment process to collect input and identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Inservice Training Director consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Ensures curricula designs support defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Inservice Training Director develops standards and methodology to prepare high-quality outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Oversees and approves the selection of software or collaboration tools used for training. Establishes the appropriate metrics to use for the evaluation of training effectiveness. Analyzes outcomes to determine ROI and recommend changes to programs and budgets. Evaluates and selects vendors to provide support, training materials, or to conduct training sessions. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior director. The Inservice Training Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     This is a unique opportunity to build a training program from the ground up. As the Director of Training, you will play a pivotal role in equipping our distributors, dealers, internal salespeople, and representatives with the necessary product knowledge, application expertise, and sales techniques to excel in their roles.

    KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

    • Increase in Sales Rep/Distributor Knowledge Scores: This KPI measures the effectiveness of training programs in equipping the sales force with product and application knowledge. It can be measured through pre- and post-training assessments or by conducting follow-up assessments or quizzes post-training.
    • Improved Sales Performance Metrics
    • Increase in sales revenue: Compare sales figures before and after training implementation to assess the effectiveness of training programs in driving revenue growth.
    • Sales conversion rates: Monitor the number of new accounts added post-training to evaluate the training's influence on sales effectiveness.
    • Training Program Satisfaction: Gather feedback through surveys to gauge their satisfaction with the training content and delivery methods..

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Needs Assessment: Collaborate with product development, sales, and marketing teams to identify training needs and objectives. Conduct a comprehensive analysis to identify training requirements for distributors, dealers, reps, and internal sales teams. This may involve focus groups, surveys, and collaboration with department heads.
    • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with product development, sales, and marketing teams to design and develop engaging training programs covering product features, functionalities, applications across various industries, and effective sales methodologies.
    • Training Delivery: Coordinate and deliver training sessions using a variety of methods (classroom, e-learning, workshops) tailored to diverse learning styles.
    • Train-the-Trainer: Prepare / certify others to conduct training sessions.
    • Performance: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, surveys, and feedback mechanisms, and continuously improve content and delivery methods accordingly. Establish metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of training initiatives on sales performance and customer satisfaction.
    • Budget Management: Develop and manage the training department's budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
    • Capability Leader: Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to inform training content and strategies. Serve as a subject matter expert on product-related inquiries and assist with customer-facing presentations and demonstrations as needed.
    • Department Establishment: Over time, build a team of trainers and establish a comprehensive training infrastructure.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in training and development, preferably within the B2B or manufacturing sector.
    • Proven track record of designing and delivering successful training programs.
    • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills – and a passion for training!
    • Ability to travel 50% or more to conduct training sessions as well as attend conference and industry events.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and learning management systems (LMS); experience with e-learning authoring tools is desirable.

    KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

    • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus.
    • Knowledge of the commercial refrigeration equipment industry is preferred.
    • Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., e-learning platforms) is a plus.

    PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Non-Manufacturing:

    • Typically work is in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate
    • Requires standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time
    • Ability to lift boxes/materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Requires telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interactions with other employees and customers
    • Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively
