Thunderbird Molding Greensboro is currently hiring a 3rd shift process tech to assist with our third shift operations.
The process technician will manage production to ensure stable and consistent processes while utilizing scientific methods including SPC, fishbone towards problem solving. They will analyze defective product and adjust set ups and advise management of any tooling repair or needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Good communication skills to effectively work with peers, subordinates, and management personnel
- Start-up presses per set up sheets for that specific item and verify all settings are to specification
- Maintaining quality standards per the QA approved Control plan and retained shots
- Ability to establish basic set ups on new parts/jobs
- Turn in first shot to QA only when process is viable, and visual quality is correct to the Control plan and related documents are completed accurately and timely
- Shut down presses correctly when order is complete or if requested by management for other reason and all related documents are completed accurately and timely, with a last shot submit and any gages or measuring items
- Purge machine correctly as and when required
- Have an analytical approach to problem solving.
- Responsible for maintaining molded product quality, minimizing manufacturing costs, and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Able to assign operators and run shift during supervisors absence
- Follow all safety compliance rules and Bright policies, and instruct employees accordingly
- Manage special assignment and projects as needed
Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Requirements:
- Good analytical skills applicable to process problem solving.
- Understanding of quality control tools such as SPC.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of materials ranging from commodity resins to engineering grade resins.
- Working knowledge of robotics, material handling systems, and automation equipment.
- Good computer skills
- Ability to use both hands and arms to frequently bend, squat, reach, twist/turn
- Ability to life and or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to read, follow detailed instructions and understand English

Technical Requirements:
- Preferred 3 years of injection mold processing experience
- Must be familiar with commodity and engineering plastics and demonstrate knowledge of varying processing characteristics including processing temperatures, melt flow, shrinkage, drying times, etc.
- Must be able to understand and utilize statistical process control methods.
- Must be able to correctly set molds, start processing and shut down injection molding machines.
- Must be able to identify process related causes for defects and make corrections.
- Must be able to identify mold and equipment related causes for defects (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC's, hot runners, etc.) and initiate appropriate repairs and modifications.
- Must be willing to work overtime or on alternate shifts as needed to meet production requirements.
Education / Training Required:
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2-5 years of previous experience or equivalent knowledge
- College or special technical training may be considered for this position
- Basic reading, writing, and communication skills both verbal and written
- Math skills including the ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts, figuring proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume

- The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
