  • This position performs systems administration functions in support of assigned department and county operations.

    • Installs, maintains and performs repairs and routine maintenance on hardware, software and other information technology equipment.
    • Monitors, troubleshoots and maintains LAN/WAN network connectivity.
    • Performs routine server back-ups. 
    • Installs, configures and support telephone systems.
    • Sets up and configures networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls and servers.
    • Assists in setting up equipment for employee use.
    • Troubleshoots and resolves PC, network connectivity, and other IT hardware/software issues.
    • Consults with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
    • Monitors system performance and recommends action where necessary.
    • Trains users in the operation of enterprise servers/applications.
    • Maintains operating system and security software.
    • Performs any other duties as assigned.
    • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a course of study related to the occupational field.
    • At least  one ( 1 ) year of  experience or service.

    VALID LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
     
     Valid Texas Driver License*
     *If applicant holds an out-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained prior to employment.  
    • Knowledge of information technologies best practices.
    • Knowledge of network backup and recovery principles.
    • Knowledge of server hardware and software support principles. 
    • Knowledge of wireless networking principles.
    • Knowledge of network administration principles.
    • Skill in decision making and problem solving.
    • Skill in oral and written communication.
    • Skill in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and correcting systems issues.
    • Skill in installing, maintaining and repairing a variety of computer hardware and software systems.
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in the English language and orally in the Spanish language.
