Information Security Director establishes and administers the overall strategies and procedures for the information security function. Develops and implements information security and disaster recovery programs in accordance with organizational information security standards. Being an Information Security Director evaluates information risk on a regular time schedule and promotes information security awareness within the organization. Requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Information Security Director typically reports to top management. The Information Security Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Information Security Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Summary

    Responsible for driving a culture of security across Corporate Functions teams including the introduction of security controls, identification/reduction of security risks and communication of key security priorities to senior leaders.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Drive a security-aware culture in IHG Corporate Functions organizations (including Legal, HR, Finance), by ensuring security is proactively built into programs, products, and initiatives.
    • Build relationships with key stakeholders including identifying strategic initiatives and ensuring security controls are incorporated into new projects as well as BAU processes
    • Provide business leadership with monthly security reporting – highlight top priority items of concern and produce metrics to show trends/progress month to month
    • Collaborate with Security Architecture to identify security requirements for new projects; follow up with business stakeholders to validate that these requirements have been effectively implemented
    • Document key business process flows, identify key applications, assets, and processes. Perform a risk assessment by partnering with Threat Management and the Security Risk team, producing, and presenting risk assessment collateral to senior business and security leadership, highlighting risks.
    • Consult with Corporate Functions stakeholders on remediation options when gaps are identified; document Policy Exceptions and analyze associated risk
    • Provide Security Leadership with insight into key BU initiatives for the year that will impact security resources/products.
    • Develop an annual communication plan detailing content that will be delivered to key stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Corporate Functions leadership and vendor partners on annual assessments and incident follow up.
    • Support Security leadership in communicating key security initiatives and potential impact to Corporate Functions, delivering key messaging to stakeholders.
    • Meet regularly with Security Leadership to understand and capture key Security priorities/initiatives, timeframes, and potential impact to the business so that Corporate Functions can plan for any security controls that need to be planned for in budgets/projects.
    • Gather commentary related to security control gap metrics/trends from Security Leaders to explain why data is trending up or down and what actions the business needs to take to address these.
    • Provide monthly updates to security leadership on key Corporate Functions priorities to ensure they have a solid understanding of what initiatives are underway and how they tie into IHG Corporate priorities.

    Key Skills & Experiences

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree with progressive work experience in Computer Science/MIS/IT, Business Administration or Engineering or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

    Experience

    • 10 years progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines, technologies or processes related to the position.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to take highly technical information and present to all levels of management, technical staffs, and business/professional contacts.
    • Strong customer-service orientation and a commitment to lead others to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction.
    • Analytical abilities, result-focused, action oriented, and ability to work effectively with customers and IT Leaders.
    • Change Agent capable of motivating and inspiring a team.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the key principles of Corporate Functions and Risk Management.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of Crisis Management & Business Continuity.
    • Ability to collect, analyze and assess information to draw meaningful conclusions.
    • Detailed understanding of regional political, economic, crime and security risks.
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the place of security in the wider business and its central role in Protecting and Championing the Trusted Brand of IHG.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines.
    • Ability to learn quickly and thoroughly in rapidly changing conditions.
    • Demonstrated ability to think laterally and under pressure.
    • Demonstrated capability to influence and persuade and to work across multiple levels of the organization.

    • Project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation.

    Technical Skills and Knowledge

    • Security Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA strongly desired
