A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN INFECTION CONTROL NURSE - (LPN)
As a Infection Control Nurse (LPN), you play a vital role in our clinic. Without you, we would not be able to fulfill our purpose! You provide total care for our residents, starting with carefully monitoring their condition and needs.
Major job functions include performing nursing tasks to assure resident needs are met. This includes: monitoring and tracking infection rates to establish possible trends, assess and evaluate resident needs, condition and care; administers medications and treatments as ordered by the physician; orders and receives medications from the pharmacy; evaluates for side effects of medications and reports to appropriate personnel; admits and discharges residents; oversees staff; ensures narcotic policy and procedures are followed; completes charting required; ensures resident care plans are followed; conducts assessments of residents with condition changes and reports to charge nurse/supervisor. In addition, the LPN will transcribe and execute physician orders; completes documentation as required; completes fall reporting; reports any bruises, skin tears and abuse/neglect; gives report to nursing staff; follows and upholds Resident Bill of Rights and facility policies and procedures; maintains confidentiality and follows HIPAA requirements; supervises and directs licensed and non-licensed staff; assists with orientation of new staff; etc. Provides excellent customer service and communication to all residents/families/visitors/MD's/ coworkers, etc.
