Additionally, Infection Control Coordinator evaluates sterilization and disinfection methods and recommends changes as necessary. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Infection Control Coordinator contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     This Infection Control Coordinator oportunity is full-time at 40 hours per week, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule.  This dyanamic individual will have knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of healthcare associated infections (HAIs), TJC standards, federal and state regulations. She/He is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections (HAIs) among patients and personnel. By authority of the Infection Control Committee, she/he may institute collection of cultures and initiate appropriate isolation precautions. She/He is responsible for assisting with in-service programs related to infection prevention and control. The ICP position is the appointed IC officer and is active as the ICO until rescinded.

     

    Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of complete infection control process in the healthcare setting.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of risk-stratified statistics as applicable to trending healthcare associated infections (HAIs).
    • Demonstrates understanding of standard and isolation precautions as set forth by the CDC.
    • Demonstrates ability to teach principles and practical application of infection control to all levels of healthcare personnel.

    Qualifications

    Current RN licensure in State of Nevada OR

    Medical Technologist license

    Minimum five (5) years experience in a supervisory position in healthcare or five (5) years in infection control.

    CIC Certification required within 12 months of employment

    Member of the Association of Professionals of Infection Control and Epidemiology

    Working knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques and current practices.
