Industrial Hygienist jobs in Pittsburgh, PA

Industrial Hygienist coordinates, plans and conducts programs to educate employees about cleanliness, safety and sanitation in the workplace. Inspects facilities and work areas to prescribes corrective actions to reduce the health risks. Being an Industrial Hygienist provides advice on methods and procedures to reduce occupational health risks. Determines measures to avoid any recurrence of accidents. Additionally, Industrial Hygienist evaluates facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promotes maintenance of a sanitary working environment. Conducts training in environmental compliance and the handling of hazardous materials. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Industrial Hygienist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     • Generate reports, formulate appropriate recommendations, and develop various types of written programs.


    • Work from ladders or scaffolds and wear PPE such as a respirator.


    • Have experience in conducting Indoor Air Quality investigations for both industrial and non-industrial buildings.


    • Have one or more of the following certifications: NIOSH 582, Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Contractor Supervisor, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Certified Microbial Consultant, or similar relevant credentials


    • Be willing to travel periodically to cover projects as they arise (travel costs are covered by company). Travel will include some out-of-state locations.
