The Position

OCCU-TEC is a growing organization based out of North Kansas City, Missouri with an over 40-year history of providing environmental consulting and safety services in the Kansas City area and nationally. OCCU-TEC is currently seeking applicants for a position with our organization as an Environmental Scientist or Industrial Hygienist based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office. This position will report directly to the Director of Environmental, Health and Safety. The successful candidate will gain the opportunity to learn from highly experienced individuals, grow and develop in an industry that is constantly expanding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct environmental investigations and assist in development of recommended correction measures as necessary
• Coordinate with multiple parties regarding investigation activities
• Complete field investigations and data collection on various environmental projects
• Complete environmental sampling and exposure assessments using varying sampling techniques, equipment and sampling media
• Prepare and assist with the preparation of environmental sampling reports and site investigations
• Maintain company equipment and inventory in good working order
• Adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements
• Observe all company and client safety programs and procedures

Key Accountabilities:

• Perform all job functions in a safe manner and ensure the safety of fellow teammates
• Perform investigations withing established budgets
• Interface with clients, establish rapport, and present a professional image
• Ensure regulatory compliance
• Produce technical reports with minimal errors
• Excellent time management and personal accountability

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, and/or related science or equivalent experience
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to bend, stoop, sit, or stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to climb ladders
• Clean driving record
• Attention to detail, deadline driven
• Reliable transportation
• Passing pre-employment drug screen and background check for security clearance.
• Overnight Travel required (up to 50%)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

• Microsoft Office Suite
• Past experience with industrial hygiene, indoor air quality, lead-based paint, asbestos, or Environmental Site Assessments is a plus
• Self-starter with personal accountability and follow-through
• Strong work ethic and deadline driven
• Will hire the right individual immediately. First-Class Technical Training provided upon hire.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
