Ergon has an opening at its corporate office in Flowood, MS for an Industrial Hygienist to provide overall leadership, professional knowledge, and expertise for Ergon's corporate-wide health and safety initiatives.

The position will be responsible for working with Engineering, Product Stewardship, and EHS personnel to develop, implement, and maintain Ergon's Corporate Industrial Hygiene guidelines, policies, processes, and procedures for all operating facilities (PSM, RMP, and non-regulated).

Industrial Hygienist Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, Engineering, Chemistry Occupational Health and Safety, with an advanced degree being preferred
• Certification as an Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
• Five years or more of Industrial Hygiene experience in Oil and Gas or manufacturing preferred
• Have a passion and drive to start new initiatives
• Experience in creating and maintaining Health and Industrial Hygiene programs.
• Ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with facility personnel. Provide a positive role model by performing tasks in line with Ergon's Core Values.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities to achieve process safety goals.
• Ability to effectively communicate Health and Industrial Hygiene status, progress, and goals to Senior Management
• Up to 30% travel

Industrial Hygienist Responsibilities:

• Maintain close working relationships with business unit leaders to assure an ongoing dialog, so that programs meet the intended requirements.
• Provide technical support and assistance to all Ergon, Inc. companies to aid in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Industrial Hygiene practices and programs necessary to insure safe and efficient operation.
• Develop and lead corporate trainings for Health and Industrial Hygiene topics including one-on-one mentoring, if required
• Lead Ergon's Operational Excellence Health and Industrial Hygiene initiatives
• Share lessons learned from industry and site events, align with Health and Industrial Hygiene safety best practices, and benchmark where applicable.
• Facilitate communication, efficient use of resources, consistency of practices, and cooperation between facilities.
• Prepare and conduct sampling plans to include the determination of appropriate analytic methods, equipment selection, calibration, laboratory interface, and data analysis.
• Plan and conduct ventilation assessment including instrumentation selection and calibration, performance measurement, data analysis, and comparison with applicable standards.
• Plan and conduct assessments of noise hazards and exposures, ergonomics and indoor air quality
• Determine the appropriate level of engineering, administrative, or PPE controls for chemical and physical agents.
• Respond to complaints and complete associated industrial hygiene fieldwork.
• Review design plans for manufacturing and laboratory spaces and guide the implementation of proactive controls related to substitution or engineering-based controls.
• Assist development and manage the radiation safety program and applicable sites.
