    Job Summary:

    Chloeta is looking for an Industrial Hygienist to be responsible for analyzing and reporting on potential community and occupational safety impacts of proposed engineering projects, primarily for federal government clients. You will utilize your experience in the federal environmental planning process to provide technical writing and review of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, including consultation on proposals produced by the Chloeta Business Development Department.


    Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

    Classification: Part-time, Call When Needed

    Compensation:

    • Non-exempt
    • Chloeta reserves the right to offer any candidate above or below the listed compensation amount based on experience or business needs.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Prepares Site Safety and Health Plans.
    • Maintains appropriate safety measures during field investigations.
    • Support all aspects of environmental consulting projects in support of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation and consultation.
    • Assess, disclose, and document impacts of proposed engineering actions to the general public through Categorical Exclusions (CATEXs), EAs, and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
    • Coordinate with external stakeholders in the production and approval of EA reports, including conducting public outreach as required and presenting materials.
    • Prepare environmental technical reports such as community impact assessments and Integrated Natural Resource Management Plans (INRMP).
    • Assist the Business Development Department by analyzing requests for proposals and providing feedback on the level of effort required for proposed environmental contracts.
    • Provide guidance to governmental agencies, environmental programs, industries, or the public.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and risk mitigation.
    • Extensive knowledge of environmental issues and planning principles, particularly application of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
    • Extensive knowledge of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) is accepted in lieu of NEPA.
    • General knowledge of industrial hygiene, general safety, food services sanitarian, and environmental services, including but not limited to consultation, asbestos and lead based paint abatement monitoring, surveys, sampling, monitoring, analysis, assessments, and specification review.
    • Ability to monitor changes in federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Required: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or closely related field
    • Preferred: Certification by the American Industrial Hygiene Association
    • Preferred: at least two (2) years’ relevant experience preparing and implementing environmental safety plans
    • License verification, resume, education, references, and/or certifications must be provided at the time of application and can be emailed to certification@chloeta.com.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
    • This job operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.

    Pre-employment Requirements:

    This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, criminal background check (state and federal), drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, education verification, employment verification, and/or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides and the responsibilities of this position.


    Drug and Alcohol Testing:

    To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.


    Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

    Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


    Emergency Response:

    Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
