Industrial Hygienist coordinates, plans and conducts programs to educate employees about cleanliness, safety and sanitation in the workplace. Inspects facilities and work areas to prescribes corrective actions to reduce the health risks. Being an Industrial Hygienist provides advice on methods and procedures to reduce occupational health risks. Determines measures to avoid any recurrence of accidents. Additionally, Industrial Hygienist evaluates facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promotes maintenance of a sanitary working environment. Conducts training in environmental compliance and the handling of hazardous materials. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. The Industrial Hygienist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Responsibilities & Duties:
· Develop detailed material flow models for new and existing products, conveyance, and automation
· Design layouts and/or improvements for each element of the company’s material handling systems across all functions including receiving, inventory control, pick & pack, and shipping
· Analyze and develop equipment specifications and requirements based on operating and budget constraints
· Develop and present analysis, findings, solutions, and costs to cross functional teams
· Manage new or improved processes from design to implementation
· Work with Operations and Continuous Improvement Teams to develop and enhance Lean processes such as standard operating procedures, standard work, 5S, six sigma, etc…
· Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and/or equivalent
· 5 years of experience with responsibilities in material process flow and layout design
· Must have a deep understanding of material delivery methods (i.e., powered industrial equipment, automated solutions including AS/RS and/or “Goods-to-Person”, guided vehicles, conveyance, rail-guided vehicles) and strategies (i.e. forklift-free)
· Project management and implementation experience required
· Experience with AutoCAD or Revit, process and mapping design leveraging Visio or LucidChart or similar, and process simulation/modeling software
· Experience with quantitatively solving storage and design problems at a systems level
· Experience with detailed material flow analysis, to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives
· Experience with Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or similar background in material flow engineering, preferred
· Experience with Good-to-Person automation solutions and implementation, preferred
Skills & Abilities:
· Demonstrated ability to lead teams and drive projects with diverse teams
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other job-related software
Physical Demands:
This is an office type position that requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and use of hands. This position requires the operation of basic office equipment. This position will also require a significant amount of time in a general warehouse environment, which may require extended amount of time walking and climbing stairs.
