NCE is a leading engineering consulting firm specializing in marine and industrial noise and vibration control. We assist a diverse range of clients to design and maintain safe and comfortable shipboard environments and to minimize impacts to sensitive underwater receivers.     As an NCE engineering technician, you will join a talented team of engineers and support staff in a small business environment. You will have the following opportunities and responsibilities:

    • Perform noise and vibration testing on land and at sea in locations around the world.
    • Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of new data collection tools.
    • Maintain NCE's measurement systems, ensuring all equipment is ready for use at any time, remains organized, and calibrations are kept up-to-date.
    • Support laboratory operations through maintenance of in-office working and supply storage areas, equipment, and supplies.
    • Perform shipping and receiving tasks, including packing and unpacking items and scheduling inbound and outbound freight.
    • Support day-to-day computer maintenance and upkeep with guidance from IT personnel.

    The ideal candidate would have the following skills. A highly motivated but less-experienced candidate interested in learning these skills would also be considered:

    • High school degree or equivalent minimum education.
    • Demonstrated electronic & mechanical skills, including voltmeters, soldering, and hand tools. Experience with 3D printing, woodworking, carpentry, metalworking, and/or similar skills is desired. 
    • Demonstrated capability to complete DIY/custom projects using consumer level (or better) electronics, hardware, and basic programming.
    • A basic (or better) understanding of sound and vibration in land-based or marine environments is desired. (Marine-specific aspects of the work will be taught on the job.)
    • Able to work safely in a laboratory/field/marine test environment, cable of lifting up to 50 lb of equipment and moving safely in cluttered environments.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
    • A desire for adventure. Travel and fieldwork are required. Some project assignments may require a valid driver's license, current passport, and/or TWIC card.
    • NCE works on ITAR and classified projects. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen in order to comply with the requirements of these projects.
