This Electrical Contractor has a consistent & long-term backlog of Industrial Retrofit / Upgrade projects in the Greater Chicago Market, and is looking for career-driven individuals to join their team to support their continued growth into their current project load and desire to break into larger, new-build projects as well.     POSITION TITLE: Industrial Electrical Controls Technician

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Industrial Electrical Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing various types of equipment and components such as AC and DC VFD's, motor controls, contactors, and lighting and distribution systems. The Industrial Electrical Controls Technician must also display a level of experience with conduit installation 1/2" - 1" EMT, ridged & aluminum. The Industrial Electrical Controls Technician must be proficient in reading schematics and technical diagrams.

    RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
    • Interface directly with customers and / or Foreman.
    • Perform continuous tests to analyze customers malfunctioned equipment.
    • Receive materials as required.
    • Self-directed and accountable to ensure tasks are completed with minimal management involvement.
    • Accountable for the quality of work conducted by themselves.
    • Keep the working area safe and clean.
    • Participate in weekly all-company safety meetings.
    • Interface with key personnel for task assignments.
    • Utilize electrical test equipment such as Megger, resistance grounding equipment, data logging devices, as well as voltmeter, ammeter, and ohmmeter.
    • Install and bend various types of conduits (EMT, Rigid, Aluminum).
    • Setup and pull wire / cable.
    • Operate, maintain, and work nearby various power equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, man-lifts, and automatic machinery.
    • Install and troubleshoot AC and DC Drives.
    • Create and read Single and Three Phase motors and motor control systems.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 5 years of experience as a Controls Technician on Electrical Construction projects in an industrial setting.
    • Experience and competency on projects up to $1M in Electrical Budget.
    • Must have knowledge of the NEC (national Electrical Code) and OSHA safety standards.
    • Knowledge of 42-volt control circuitry and single-line diagrams.
    • Ability to read ladder logic diagram and assist in creating conduit layout schedule.
    • Must be customer service oriented on all levels.
    • Must be organized, able to multitask, work both independently while being a team player.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be safety conscious.
    • Education related to controls classes preferred.
    • Must be able to work from various heights via platforms, scaffolds, ladders, or man-lifts.
    • Must be able to bend and stretch, lift, and move heavy objects many times across a shift.
    • Ability to support projects within a 50-mile radius of the Greater Chicagoland Area.
    PAY TRANSPARENCY: A reasonable estimate of the available pay scale for this position is: $48/hour to $55/hour. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.
