  • POSITION SUMMARYPrepares and paints products with a variety of paint systems and finishes to meet customer specifications.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    o Independently decipher customer product preparation and paint system application requirements by reading both customer and in-house prints.

    o Prepares product surface for finishing by adequately masking per customer drawings and specifications.

    o Operates media blasting booths of various sizes and complexity.

    o Prepares product surface by hand when required.

    o Ability to operate various paint system mixing equipment, and a working understanding of epoxy and traditional paint systems application and various paint system preparation techniques.

    o Ability to apply various types of paint systems on products of varying shape and size to meet customer specifications utilizing various application techniques consistently, including but not limited to air sprayer, airless sprayer, brush, etc.

    o Familiar with proper use and storage of various paint thinning methods and products. Must be able to compute mixing ratios.

    o Ability to perform basic functions on computers for job clocking and data entry.

    o Understand the function and purpose of various types of Personal Protective Equipment worn by media blast operators and paint spray booth operators.

    o Cleans grease and dirt from product using materials such as lacquer thinner, soap, and water.

    o Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.

    o Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color according to specifications using paddle or mechanical mixer.

    o Be responsible and accountable for creating a professional, safe, and clean work environment evidenced by being at work on time to perform assigned duties, follows the policies of Granite State Manufacturing, always wears safety glasses in designated areas, maintains a neat and orderly work area, and follows safety practices to prevent errors.

    o Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and networks with both managers/directors and workers and collaborating with them to accomplish shared purposes and goals.

    o Abides by GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct standards and strictly observes all U.S. and foreign laws and regulations.

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    o Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    o Able to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, schematics, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

    o Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers of measurements, volumes, and distances.

    o Able to meet requirements for respirator use.

    o Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

    o Must be able to frequently lift over 50 lbs

    o Must be able to frequently crouch, bend, stretch, and reach into tight and awkward positions.

    o HIGHLY DESIRED: Experience in Aerospace and/or Military specific coating application requirements and working knowledge of required Objective Quality Evidence requirements.
