Job Summary

Sportech offers qualified Industrial Design students a real-world experience working in an innovative program designed to enhance academic experience, professional growth, and personal development. Students will be actively involved in new product development with Sportech’s customers and suppliers with fundamental exposure to an array of applications.

Essential Job Functions

• Work within Sportech’s Industrial Design department to ideate new concepts for given projects.
• Design problem solving using sketching (digital and hand), model-making (3D Printing), and CAD (SolidWorks).
• Work one-on-one with Engineers on new product designs including CAD work and Prototype testing.
• Take feedback from production to design parts for easier manufacturability.
• Apply, prepare, and present innovative solutions to progress new product concepts and technologies as needed.
• Research based on market trends, competitive positioning, and use-case investigation to provide a product framework.

Requirements

• A participant must be currently enrolled in an accredited Industrial Design or Transportation Design degree or related field program
• Participant must hold Junior or Senior standing
• Participant must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0
• Participant must maintain all the above to continue in the program
• Solid hand-rendering skills and an eye for aesthetics.
• Comfortable with A-side production surfacing in SolidWorks, being able to take a sketch and build the surfaces with minimal deviation from aesthetic vision. 
• Experience working with Adobe CS (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is recommended.
• 3D rendering/animation skills (KeyShot, etc.) are a plus.
• Familiarity with AI tools and platforms to explore innovative design concepts is a plus.
