Directs and coordinates activities of import department, including break-bulk and customs brokerage to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations and maximize profits by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, in additional to the duties and responsibilities of the import agent, when required for the efficiency and smooth running of the department. Other duties may be assigned.

• Plans, develops and implements organization policies and goals of the department.
• Under the direction of the branch manager, prepares directives to employees of the department outlining policy, program or operation changes to be implemented.
• Analyzes and organizes department operations and procedures such as personnel, filing systems, requisition of supplies and other clerical services.
• Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow. Sees that the import billing is processed on a daily basis.
• Plans office layout for the department and implements cost reduction programs initiated by the branch manager.
• Prepares customer profiles, which may include special conditions negotiated with the approval of the branch manager.
• Controls EPO's and makes necessary corrections.
• Prepares quotations for the network, local sales force and customers.
• Reviews clerical documents within the department to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepares import activity reports for the guidance of the branch manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages a total of 2-10 employees in the Import Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
