ROCIMG is looking for an experienced Business Development Specialist to join our team of professionals. The Business Development Specialist must thrive in an environment where they are responsible for the management and execution of the full business development (BD) life cycle process across multiple simultaneous pursuits and proposals for the Federal Civilian, Technology Project / Program Management, Strategic Planning, and Management Consulting marketplace as the primary focus;
secondary focus is other federal agencies. The ideal candidate will leverage strong customer relationships and personal experience to identify and assess potential business opportunities that result in measurable revenue growth.
The ideal candidate is expected to exercise sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies; regularly interact with all levels of management, business partners, staff, and customers;
and display a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy.
Responsibilities
Proactively cold-call and email into prospective accounts targeting key personas, exploring a variety of use cases that our solutions can solve
Work with marketing to build and cultivate prospect relationships by continuously engaging them with personalized communications, such as marketing content and industry thought-leadership material to move opportunities through the sales funnel to closure
Utilize CRM system to accurately record all activities and communication - prospect, partners, etc. Exceptional CRM hygiene is critical to achieve success in this role
Use data in CRM and the available sales technology stack to identify prospects and understand use cases to successfully personalize communications and maximize a successful outreach strategy
Assist in the coordination of meetings, presentations, and follow-up activities to maintain and grow business relationships
Attend networking events, conferences to develop new relationships with potential Government decision makers, contracting officers, and teaming partners
Work closely with, and support government Program Managers, and other government program staff; listen to their needs and requirements and work with the team to design and develop business and technical solutions to meet those requirements
Develop strong customer relationships resulting in a deep understanding of customer budget and priorities, operating environment, opportunities, programs, technology solutions and competitive environment and dynamics
Research and analyze emerging opportunities included in Government Procurement Sites (SAM, GSA e-buy, FPDS-NG, GovWin, etc.
and present actionable recommendations
Research procurement contracts and procurement forecast documents to identify and prioritize prospects and assist with building and maintaining a pipeline of potential clients and opportunities
Perform research on specific proposals and Business Development (BD) opportunities to gain accurate budget, incumbent information, and release dates.
Includes research of competitors, market insights, customer demographics, potential partners and more
Assist in BD efforts as required
Work with executives to update pipeline
Required Qualifications
4 years of experience selling to Federal government agencies
2 years of experience developing relationships and closing business in the Federal space
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven track record in cold calling and networking
Demonstrated understand of the federal acquisition process
Must be prepared to be in the field 40% of the time
Ability to work extra hours to develop relationships and capture work
Existing contacts / network
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
Knowledge of sales methodology
Skilled in the use of MS Office suite - email, Word, PowerPoint etc.
Location
Gaithersburg, MD / Hybrid
There will be in person meetings / events at client site, partner offices, conferences, etc.
