IT Vendor Relationship Director designs and implements the organization's strategic technology vendor management program to meet company needs and comply with required quality standards. Selects providers and oversees procurement of IT products and services to monitor and maintain operational costs and budgets. Being an IT Vendor Relationship Director administers the request for proposals process to vet the reputation and quality of vendor products. Negotiates service level agreements to ensure performance/quality metrics, responsibilities, expectations, and penalties are clearly defined. Additionally, IT Vendor Relationship Director works closely with managers and teams to monitor, maintain, and improve existing vendor relationships. Conducts regular business reviews to ensure compliance with company expectations, review issues, and develop solutions. May require experience with software licensing and hardware procurement. Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. Typically reports to top management. The IT Vendor Relationship Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an IT Vendor Relationship Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The IT Director for the College of Arts and Letters leads a team of eight full time staff IT Support Technicians, IT Solutions Engineers, Consultants & Specialists who provide an enhanced level of support and consultation services customized to the unique needs of the college. Additionally, the team has part-time on call temps, contractors and student workers.
    A champion for secure, stable devices and services, the IT Director seeks to understand and improve device management and the use of solutions that support the mission of the College. The IT Director forms strong relationships across University academic and administrative units, IT teams, higher ed peers and vendors to define strategy and promote best practices and standards around the delivery and support of IT devices and solutions. This position provides technology strategies and leadership for developing and implementing information technology solutions that meet and support the teaching and learning, research, and administrative needs of the College.
    The IT Director maintains a clear understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of the College and the critical role that IT plays in support of that mission. In addition, the proven ability to excel working in a complex, consensus-driven IT environment with a combination of structured and unstructured internal constituencies is essential to success.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Management or related field
    • 5 - 7 years of relevant leadership experience







    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Leadership experience in an academic or higher education environment
    • Masters Degree
    • PMI Certification
    • MOR Leadership Program Participation
