IT Vendor Relationship Director designs and implements the organization's strategic technology vendor management program to meet company needs and comply with required quality standards. Selects providers and oversees procurement of IT products and services to monitor and maintain operational costs and budgets. Being an IT Vendor Relationship Director administers the request for proposals process to vet the reputation and quality of vendor products. Negotiates service level agreements to ensure performance/quality metrics, responsibilities, expectations, and penalties are clearly defined. Additionally, IT Vendor Relationship Director works closely with managers and teams to monitor, maintain, and improve existing vendor relationships. Conducts regular business reviews to ensure compliance with company expectations, review issues, and develop solutions. May require experience with software licensing and hardware procurement. Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. Typically reports to top management. The IT Vendor Relationship Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Information Technology is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and strategic direction to build a state-of-the-art campus technology infrastructure supporting the future needs of students, faculty, and staff in multiple and diverse graduate education programs. The Director partners with institutional administrators, identifying and executing information technology initiatives that support university-wide strategic priorities. The Director builds and leads a high-performing Information Technology team, ensuring an outstanding level of customer service to all members of the campus community. The position is part of the overall Touro University System (TUS) IT management team with a dotted line report to the TUS Vice President for Technology/Chief Information Officer (VP/CIO).

    Responsibilities

    • Reports to the Chief Operating Officer, maintaining regular written and in-person communication regarding departmental activities, projects, and new initiatives.
    • Meets regularly with the Touro University System VP of Technology and CIO to implement systems aligned with TU system-wide services, strategic plans, budgets, and IT operations.
    • Coordinates a balance of local and system-level resourcing to continue to grow IT infrastructure, improve service delivery and control costs and risk.
    • Provides leadership, management and guidance to the IT Team and ensures an outstanding level of customer service and technical support to all members of the campus community.
    • Responsible for supporting and implementing an IT infrastructure in collaboration with Central IT to support the needs of the students, faculty, and staff
    • Provides creative and collaborative leadership for shaping mid- and long-term strategic direction in IT, aligning this with staffing, staff development, and workflows.
    • Creates a culture of partnership and collaboration with campus leadership, departments, and other stakeholders across academic and administrative divisions.
    • Champion IT policies and procedures, assessment, and implementation of new technologies, accreditation needs, and reporting across campus departments.
    • Manages a portfolio of strategic information technology projects in conjunction with Central IT and the Project Management Office.
    • Maintains the operational integrity of the technologies and services provided to the campus community.
    • Manages a highly collaborative service desk and the coordination of the TUC Service Desk with the TouroOne Helpdesk and service delivery operations.
    • Creates and manages Information Technology operational and capital budgets.
    • Develops processes for problem management and resolution to ensure the return of services to normal operation with minimal delays.
    • Ensures current job descriptions and annual evaluations are completed for each IT employee. Provides opportunities for ongoing professional development for the IT team.
    • Serves on the University Emergency Operations Group, partners in building the IT-Facilities infrastructure that supports campus safety, and is responsible for development and maintenance of Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans for IT.
    • Develops, implements, and coordinates policies and procedures within IT and with the campus community.
    • Identifies, vets, and manages IT-related vendors and partnerships in accordance with published policies and procedures.
    • Identifies, creates, and implements training resources for students, faculty, and staff.
    • Develops a customer-centric environment to promote a supportive and collaborative environment to support academic initiatives and the campus learning experience.
    • While primarily responsible for the Vallejo campus, advises the Touro University Medical Group (Stockton) on IT matters on an as-needed basis.
    • Advises on IT matters related to campus construction and renovation projects.
    • Promotes monitoring and alerting procedures to ensure proactive responses and improve services.
    • Collaborates with IT directors across the system.
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable): should reflect who the employee is supervising and what the expectations are.

     

    The Director builds a high-performing Information Technology team and supervises IT Professionals responsible for providing a wide array of technology services to students, faculty, and staff across academic, administrative, and executive divisions. The Director is responsible for recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions. The Director mentors and advises staff on issue resolution, service provisioning, and how to effectively manage and support the institution’s technology infrastructure.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the management of Information Systems or related field.
    • Knowledge of ITIL processes for service management is required.
    • PMP certification and familiarity with the Project Management Body of Knowledge preferred.
    • Minimum of three years of experience managing an Information Technology department and supporting enterprise-class information technology systems, preferably in higher education.
    • Broad familiarity with Information Technology systems, processes, and implementation techniques.
