Position Title: IT Project Coordinator

Department: 9030|IRI-Tech Transfer

Responsibilities:

The IT Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting the leadership of the Informatics Research Institute in the overall planning and completion of contracted IT projects within a wide variety of data science and artificial intelligence research disciplines. Acting as a project coordinator, this individual will oversee a portfolio of technology development and maintenance projects to ensure deadlines are met. 

The IT Project Coordinator will report to the Chief Technology Officer of the Informatics Research Institute.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as liaison between client and Institute leadership; ensuring effective communications and relationships between client, leadership and project team members are maintained.
• Assist in coordinating project roles, identify resource requirements, meet training needs, define project deliverables, provide customer satisfaction and reporting structures, and ensure quality of projects.
• Review and monitor project work through the utilization of project management tools and software to ensure that progress is within expected guidelines and completed on time.
• Coordinate with the technical team supervisors to prioritize tasks as needed to meet the client’s targets.
• Identify, track, monitor, and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances and contingencies that may arise during the implementation of projects.
• Prepare and present oral and/or written technical reports and project presentations as needed.
• Organize and conduct project team meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in management, business administration, computer science or computer information systems (CIS), or a closely related field.
• OR 5 years of work experience in project management in real world settings may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• MBA or master’s degree in a closely related field.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, software development, and database development including the design, development, verification, integration and deployment of database solutions and software systems.
• Experience utilizing project management tools and software programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent planning, documentation, and organizational skills.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate and have the:

• Ability to effectively communicate, both written and oral.
• Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
