Traffic Control Safety Supervisor

  • General Responsibilities and Tasks

    • Supervise Flaggers and ensure compliance with company standards.
    • Perform traffic control and flagging activities as needed; follows safety rules and regulations on all work zone and flagging sites, including placing signs, barricades, traffic cones and other warning devices; duties may vary according to job assignment.
    • Traffic Control Plan preparation and review.
    • Ability to implement and field adjust Traffic Control Plans. 
    • Maintains a safe work area on highways, municipal roads, rights-of-way, and rural roads.
    • MUTCD knowledge so you can safely set up and tear down all work zones.
    • Ability to problem solve and work under pressure.
    • Ability to document work thoroughly and clearly.
    • Member of Safety Committee.
    • Organize and attend monthly and quarterly Safety Meetings.
    • Manage company Safety Program including review and update of company Safety Manual as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with Safety Manual at every level of the company.
    • Maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations related to the industry.
    • Traffic Control Supervisor certification.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Basic Requirements

    • Excellent organization skills - high attention to detail.
    • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
    • Adaptability - working conditions and schedule may vary.
    • Technology skills – ability to work with various devices and applications such as smart phones, tablets, PC’s, GPS systems, MS Office applications, Email, etc.
    • Must have current, valid driver’s license and be insurable to drive company vehicles.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    This position will be performed in various indoor and outdoor conditions. It may require occasional field work with environmental working conditions that will vary in terms of weather, surfaces, lighting and occasional exposure to construction vehicles and equipment.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, and maintain balance for limited periods of time.
    Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to perform some repetitive tasks such as stretch, turn, twist, bend and reach overhead for limited periods of time.

    Starting Pay: $23-26/hour
